About Mrs. Lough

(pronounced low, like cookie dough)

I am from Denver, Colorado and moved to Austin last year after my husband received a job promotion. I am excited to be living in a new state with new adventures. In my free time I enjoy spending time outside, being with family and friends, traveling, and practicing yoga.  I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Elementary Education.  I also earned an endorsement in teaching English as a Second Language. I recently took graduate level courses and earned an Early Language & Literacy Certificate. I have taught first grade for the past ten years! I taught first grade at an IB PYP school in Denver for nine years.  Last year I began teaching first grade at Spicewood. I have been to six International Baccalaureate trainings and I have a deep understanding of the Primary Years Program.  I also specialize in teaching literacy and was an Early Literacy Specialist. I am passionate about teaching and I believe there is nothing better than being around young people and watching their discoveries.
